(male announcer) this is the bay area news station, kron 4 news starts now. >> developing tonight at eight. police are investigating the death of a teenage girl. who suisun city yesterday. and found dead in fairfield this morning. a passerby discovered the girl's naked body in allan witt park at about 6-45 this morning. right now. her death is being investigated as a homicide. kron-4's charles clifford has been in fairfield all day. he joins us live tonight with the very latest. the girl, who's described as a teenager, was reported missing by a guardian thursday afternoon when she

didn't come home from school. the suisun city police department spent thursday eveing and friday morning searching for her. around 6:45 friday morning, an officer with the fairfield police department discovered her body lying naked in a parking lot here at allan witt park. fairfield police blocked off a large section of the park and spent most of the day searching the area. they also contacted suisun city police who were able to identify girl as their as of friday evening the girls name and exact age had not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

disappearance. his one time haight - ashbury home on masonic avenue. is across the street from saint agnes - where collins attended basketball practice before vanishing in 1984. therrien died in 2008. of a heart attack. at the age of 51. that means he was 28. when kevin vanished. tonight, kron-4's terisa estacio continues our team coverage. with reaction from kevin's mother. >> reporter: this involved matching a description the new primary thsuspect. with credible witnesses at the time it told investigators that he was last seen with a man with a black dog. they confirmed that he had a dog at the time. she does not remember police identified him by name but the rich just focusing on a neighbor that lived near the corner where kevin went missing. as for why now? and spectatorthe

location. great care and attention was given in the décor. the wall paper and the art are the same as the old location but the space is much bigger and you can seewill accommodate many more people than the last one. happy bar patrons were knocking back the champaigne and classic irish coffees to celebrate the new location. old time customers were, no doubt, happy to see the gold dust back in business. they've essentially gone from one end of the cable car line to the other. this place is going to be wildly successful. it will be a combination of crusty, local san franciscans and tourists. looks almost the same, don't you think?: yeah, but it's a little refreshed and it showsit's a piece of san francisco the way it was and the way it is today. for it to continue as a san francisco traditionhey, it's priceless. that's the way i put it. a lot of the old timers say they have memories that will be forever entoumbed in the

>> the death toll in the explosion at the headquarters of mexico's state-owned oil company has risen to 32. investigators say the blast that collapsed the lower floors of the pemex building in mexico city yesterday. appears to have been accidental. but all possibilities are being examined. more than 120 were injured in the blast. a government official says early signs point to a problem in an area that housed electrical and air- conditioning equipment. >> nasa is marking 10-years since the columbia disaster. with a ceremony honoring all

the astronauts who gave their lives for space exploration. on february first, 2003, the space shuttle columbia broke up upon re-entering the earth's atmosphere, killing all seven astronauts on board. today, dozens gathered at the space mirror memorial, the 42-foot high black granite memorial at kennedy space center in florida. the memorial contains the names of the 24-people who were killed on missions and other training and commercial accidents. former astronaut buzz aldrin also helped lead a tribute to fallen astronauts at arlington national cemetery.

former massachusetts senator and one-time presidential candidate john kerry is now officially the country's secretary of state. kerry was sworn in today by supreme court justice elena kagan. kerry becomes in the country's 68th secretary of state. according to a u-s official, kerry's first trip as secretary of state will be to israel and egypt. that could happen in a couple of weeks. kerry succeeds hillary clinton as secretary of state. she officially stepped down from the post earlier today. her colleagues at the state department gave her warm send-off in washington clinton also submitted her letter of resignation to president obama during a private farewell meeting at

>> now for a look at our top stories at eight-thirty. fairfield police are investigating the death of a teen girl found in a park early this morning as a homicide. the victim's name has not been released. but we have learned she was reported missing from suisun city thursday morning. how she was killed. and a possible suspect description. have not yet been released. >> kron-4 has uncovered new details about a suspect in the kevin collins' disappearance from 19-84. dan therrian. who went by the name of "kelly." once lived at the home that police searched on tuesday looking for clues. we know he worked at a restaurant. and died of a heart attack in 2008. and the countdown to kickoff of super bowl 47 is less than 48-hours away. die-hard 49er fans are making the trek to the new orleans super dome. earlier today. the harbaugh brothers. who will be coaching on opposing sidelines. posed wit their parents with the lombardi trophy. san jose police say, a violent fugitive wanted in three recent shootings is behind bars. investigators calling this man a ticking time- bomb. kron four's rob flaedeboe was there, when the swat team made the arrest just hours ago.

>> reporter: that's him in the back of the squad car shortly after he surrendered to a police swat team early friday.. a man san jose cops have been hunting every day for two months. here's his picture. he's 30-year-old mitchell pope, wanted in connection with at least three shootings and other crimes, considered armed and extremely dangerous. >> he is a ticking time bomb. what ever type of criminal activity that led to multiple shootings. >> reporter: a 2nd un-named suspect was also taken into custody and more arrests are pending as several other people were detained and hand-cuffed as the swat team surrounded this house on lewis avenue, setting off a flash-bang device leading to the suspect's surrender, ending a crime spree that was anything but peaceful. >> we do not necessarily have a public and the no. 1 but he would be on the list.

reporting influence it-like symptoms. we have not peaked in california with influenza-like scent comesympto >> pam: also in january, a 99-year-old santa clara county woman died of complications from the flu. statewide the toll is at 14. health officials say their have been a few spot shortages at pharmacies but that flu vaccine is still widely available and that it's not too late to get a flu shot. >> pam: a false child abduction prompts an early morning amber alert in east oakland. police say the mother got into a physical altercation with the child's father, kim tolfree just after midnight. she said tolfree, allegedly struck her with a gun and fled with the couple's 18- month-old daughter. police later arrested tolfree and determined the report was false. no word on whether the mother would face charges for filing the false report. >> twitter says its web site

has been hacked. and two hundred and fifty thousand users personal information may have been compromised. twitter said that it recently detected a series of attempts to hack into user data, and that the attackers may have made off with information such as email addresses and passwords. twitter has contacted those affected by this hack and has reset their passwords. and are recommending all users to beef up their passwords. >> san francisco district attorney george gascón called on 49er fans to celebrate peacefully this superbowl sunday. gascon says, he wants to avoid the vandalism and destruction that occurred when the san francisco giants clinched the world series last october. he says, niners fans are encouraged to celebrate responsibily. and treat the city with respect. >> the consequences for hurting someone, damaging property are very severe and there is no need for that to occur. we can all enjoy the
